Can public source links prove that a relay uses the claimed model?

No. Public docs, pricing and privacy pages are only first-pass trust signals. They cannot prove model identity, uptime, token accounting or whether a provider silently routes to another model.

What is the most important thing to check for Cursor or Codex CLI?

Look for a documented OpenAI-compatible base URL, model IDs, auth format, streaming behavior and error format. If any of those are missing, test only with non-sensitive prompts and a small balance.

When should I avoid an AI API relay even if the public links look complete?

Avoid relays for sensitive repositories, production workloads, compliance-heavy data, large prepaid balances or any case where model identity and logging rules must be contractually guaranteed.
